A Powerful Plug-in Hybrid Electric Powertrain

The Lexus TX Plug-in Hybrid features a DIRECT4 AWD plug-in hybrid combines a powerful 3.5L V6 engine with DIRECT4 AWD, a Lexus first.

DIRECT4 All-Wheel Drive

DIRECT4 is an all-wheel drive system that achieves quick and linear response according to driver input on the self-charging hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. The DIRECT4 drive force distribution control uses vehicle wheel speed, acceleration, and steering angle sensor information to control front-to-rear drive force ratio distribution between 100:0 to 20:80. This contributes to improved start-up acceleration, handling stability, and low power consumption.

DESIGN

Designed for Enhanced Aerodynamics

The design of the all-new TX Plug-in Hybrid set out to prioritize aerodynamic performance, resulting not only in enhanced efficiency and handling stability, but also led to the creation of the new Lexus ‘Unified Spindle’. The headlights are linked by a narrow aperture beneath the leading edge of the hood, with the low-set grille underneath forming a seamless spindle shape and creating a sleek front-end that enhances aerodynamic handling.

GA-K Platform

The TX Plug-in Hybrid is the latest Lexus SUV to adopt the GA-K platform, which provides a low centre of gravity and optimal weight distribution. Further improvements include enhancements made to strengthen the TX Plug-in’s body rigidity and to minimize noise, vibration and harshness. The result? Improved performance and comfort that is virtually unheard of in a three-row SUV.

The remarkable driving performance of the TX Plug-in Hybrid is realized through a wide, grounded stance that is accented by 20-inch wheels with a multi-spoke design offering a strong visual presence. First Lexus Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle Manufactured in North America

The all-new TX Plug-in Hybrid represents another historic first as this brand continues to find new ways to provide electric options that customers demand. The Lexus 550h+ will be the first Lexus Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle assembled in North America, marking a milestone in our electric vehicle technology offering. It remains quiet through virtually any driving scenario, thanks to high-dampening door and roof mastic seals, and an increased silencer material under the rear cargo and floor area to help soften rear seat noise vibration.

Every Seat is the Best Seat

Comfort and convenience can be found no matter where you sit in the TX Plug-in Hybrid. In the front seats, a dual-opening console lid conveniently allows driver and passenger to open the left and right sides independently. And the second row is available as either captain’s chairs or 60:40 split-folding bench, depending on grade. For the third row, access is made easier with a slide assist walk-in mechanism.

Storage for Everyone and Everything

The TX Plug-in Hybrid offers impressive storage throughout the cabin, including an available centre console when equipped with captain’s chairs, to accommodate small items or a digital device and removable cupholders. And for larger items, the TX Plug-in Hybrid boasts ample cargo capacity with room for seven carryon suitcases in the rear of the vehicle, expanding to 57.4 cubic feet and 97 cubic feet when third row or both second and third row seats are folded down, respectively.
