When it’s time to charge your Electric Vehicle (EV), simply plug in – at home, at work, or at any public charging station. The time it takes to charge your vehicle depends on the kind of EV you have, the size of the battery, and the speed and level of charging point you’re using.
Charging an electric vehicle has never been simpler or more convenient. And not only are there more places to charge an EV than ever before, but there are also more charging options as well.
You can charge a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) or Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) at home, at work, or at most public charging stations. How long it takes to charge an electric vehicle depends on the size of the battery and the speed or Level of charging point.
At Home Charging
Level 1 charging is the simplest option, and it charges slowly. On the plus side, it uses power from standard wall outlets in homes. All Lexus BEVs from 2026 and beyond include a dual-voltage charging cable to facilitate Level 1 charging.
At Home and Public Charging
Level 2 is like Level 1, but with twice the voltage and increased amperage. This means vehicles charge much faster. At home, this requires installing a Level 2 charger into higher voltage electrical outlets1 – like those that power large appliances like clothes dryers or ovens. In public, Level 2 is widely available at public stations. The dual-voltage cable can also be used for Level 2 charging.
Public Charging
DCFC (Direct Current Fast Charging) provides even higher voltage in the form of DC power. Level 3 requires the use of specialized equipment and manufacturer-specific plugs, which are not available in residential homes. Charging time will vary widely depending on weather conditions and other factors2.
Most EVs use a standard SAE J1772 connector, which combines AC and DC inlets for charging at Level 1 or 2. And 2026 model BEVs will now come with the NACs charging port. With these, drivers can take advantage of all three options for charging at home.
Lexus’ incorporation of the North American Charging System (NACS) port on certain vehicles offers convenient charging access to over 5000 public charging stations across Canada. And finding a public charger is easy! Simply use the Lexus App (Remote Connect or paid subscription required)4 and in-car navigation to help you find the nearest charger. And should you ever run out of charge, Lexus Roadside Assistance can tow you to the nearest charging station so you can get back on the road.
With the NACS Charging Adaptor, Lexus BEV owners now have access to a rapidly expanding NACS DC Fast-Charging network that includes Tesla Supercharger sites, adding many more convenient locations for quick, reliable charging. This expanded access makes planning both daily commutes and road trips easier than ever. (For Lexus battery electric vehicles only. 2025 and earlier BEV models require adaptor for use.)

There are a few different kinds of connectors to charge your EV.

The SAE J1772 connector enables both level 1 and level 2 AC charging. Available on 2023 - 2025 model Lexus BEVs & on PHEVs.
The CCS1 connector enables Level 3 DC fast charging on 2023 - 2025 model Lexus BEVs. This will be replaced by the NACs connector starting with 2026 models.
The NACS connector enables AC and DC Level 1, 2 and 3 charging.

For optimal longevity, it’s best to charge up to 80%, and keep the battery state of charge in a moderate range between 10% - 80%. When additional range is required, charge up to 100%.
After three 10-80% charge sessions, DC Fast Charging over the next 24 hour period may take longer and be less effective. Starting with 2026 models, this limit increases to five charging sessions per day.
Battery preconditioning lets you bring your BEVs battery to an optimal temperature for DC fast charging in cold weather, improving charging speeds.
Charging times for your EV will depend on many factors including the kind of vehicle you have, the temperature, and the kind of charger you are using. For example, a RZ connected to a Level 3 charger can go from 10% (Low Battery Light) to 80% in as quickly as 30 minutes5.
With over 5000 public charging stations across Canada, getting a charge on the go should be no problem. Simply use the Lexus App plus your vehicle’s nav system to find the closest charger.
Like all Lithium-Ion batteries, there will be some reduction in capacity over the life of the battery. For peace of mind, Lexus EVs have an EV Component Warranty of 8 years/160,000 kms.
For longer trips, charging your vehicle fully, and then determining where charging stations along your route will allow you to recharge. Once you know that, plan your route, and timing, accordingly.
Try using public chargers located at the end of the row, as they typically offer more space. If needed, carefully position your vehicle across two spaces, but never park horizontally or block access to other chargers. Do not use an extension cable when charging your Lexus BEV with a Level 3 DC Fast Charger.
The NACS Charging Adaptor allows compatible Lexus BEV owners to access thousands of Tesla Supercharger sites locations, expanding available DC fast charging options beyond public networks. The adaptor is designed exclusively for 2025 and earlier Lexus BEV models. The NACS Charging Adaptor is not compatible with Lexus plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).
Lexus recommends using only Lexus-approved and Lexus Genuine adaptors. Use of non-approved adaptors may result in charging issues or battery damage and could affect your vehicle’s warranty coverage.
2026 Lexus BEVs come equipped with a NACS charging connector and can connect with public chargers that offer NACS connectivity. Lexus Guests looking to charge their 2026 Lexus BEV at a public CCS (Level 3) or J1772 (Level 2) charging station will require a Lexus Genuine NACS adaptor, available for purchase at Lexus dealers.
It’s recommended to set up the Lexus App before first use. The Lexus app to locate public chargers, activate charging sessions, and process payment. Charging stations operated and part of the Tesla Supercharger Network may not support external payment methods.
Some charging networks may not support charging through the Lexus app and charging can be initiated via credit card or third party app (such as ChargePoint).
2026 Lexus BEVs do not come equipped with an adaptor. Lexus Genuine Adaptors are available for purchase at your Lexus Dealer.

There are two ways to pay for your charging on a Tesla charger.
1. Plug and Charge (PnC)
• First ensure registration for PnC is complete. Note: this is a one-time registration through the Lexus App.
• Find and select a compatible Tesla charger nearby (refer to Q.1).
• Park your vehicle at the Tesla charging station
• Plug the charging cable into your vehicle – and charging will commence.
• Once charging is complete, remove the charging cable from your vehicle
2. Without Plug and Charge (PnC)
• Find and select a compatible Tesla charger nearby (refer to Q.1).
• Park your vehicle at the Tesla charging station
• Plug the charging cable to your vehicle
• Tap “start charging“ on your Lexus app
• To stop tap on “stop charging“ on your Lexus app, or press the button on the Tesla charger handle
• Note: There is no need to tap your credit card. The charge amount will automatically be billed to the credit card saved on your Lexus app.
Some stations operated by Tesla and are part of the Tesla Supercharger Network may not have credit card readers or tap-to-pay functionality, so activation through the Lexus app is recommended. All other stations may vary.
BEVs and PHEVs are growing in popularity, as are the options for vehicles and locations to charge them. Lexus’s adoption of the NACS charger means more charging options than ever for drivers, and those options will continue to grow. In fact, access to NACS supercharger is expected to grow from 5000 locations to over 30,000 by 2030.
