Winnipeg-based Métis artist and designer Jennine Krauchi is known for revitalizing Métis beadwork through beadwork, quillwork, and fashion. Her work explores identity, history, and resilience, and has been commissioned by leading Canadian cultural institutions.
Toronto-based ceramicist Julie Moon creates innovative work that blends ceramics, textiles, sculpture, and design. Her work has been exhibited across Canada and internationally, and she is also a dedicated educator and mentor.
Winnipeg-based Two-Spirit Métis beadwork artist Vi Houssin creates work that blends traditional Métis techniques with contemporary themes of identity, grief, resilience, and environmental change. Her work has been supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.
Montreal-based glassblower and artist-designer Charlie Larouche-Potvin reimagines Venetian glassmaking through a contemporary lens. Trained in Murano, Italy, his work has been exhibited internationally, and he regularly shares his expertise through residencies and educational programs.
Gordon Sparks is a Mi’kmaw artist from Pabineau First Nation, now living in Rough Waters, New Brunswick. Gordon carves masks that embody Mi’kmaw stories, traditions, and teachings. His work has been exhibited across Atlantic Canada and internationally, including at London’s Collect Art Fair.
Recipients of the 2026 Craftsperson of the Year Award and Emerging Craftsperson Award will be announced in the coming months.
Each recipient will receive a $10,000 Lexus x Craft Innovation Grant in recognition of their outstanding contributions to Canadian craft.
