Design

Next Generation Design Language

Guided by the concept of ‘Seamless E-Motion’, Lexus designers crafted a vehicle that captures the sense of seamless acceleration and dynamic torque unique to BEVs. Without a combustion engine to cool, the spindle grill has been removed. The Lexus spindle body architecture clearly expresses the RZ athletic proportions, aerodynamic efficiency, and unique personality. The sleek minimalist aesthetic continues inside giving the spacious interior a bright airy feel as luxurious as it looks.

THOUGHTFUL DESIGN

RZ exterior design adds dynamic handling to the supple ride. The rear flares visually evoke the powerful traction produced by the rear motor. The sleek front bumper design includes headlamps that highlight the bold L-signature. A precisely honed character line creates an arrow-like profile with a flowing roofline to minimize drag, reduce noise and lend stability at high speeds.

Lexus’ Dedicated BEV Platform

The dedicated BEV platform (e-TNGA) offers incredible performance and a joyful drive. As well as a lightweight and highly rigid body, mounting the battery under the floor creates a low centre of gravity and optimizes weight distribution and enhances performance. To ensure excellent handling performance, the body has been strengthened and strategically reinforced.

Integrated e-AXLE

The high-output electronic axle (e-Axle) fully integrates the motor, transaxle, and inverter within a compact unit to benefit cruise range, spacious interior, and excellent design. The front e-Axle is packaged with a short front/rear system layout, while the rear e-Axle features a low-profile layout contributing to increased interior and cargo space.

DIRECT4 All-Wheel Drive

The DIRECT4 all-wheel drive system achieves quick and linear response according to driver input. Its drive force distribution control uses vehicle wheel speed, acceleration, and steering angle sensor information to control front-to-rear drive force ratio distribution between 100:0 and 0:100. This contributes to improved start-up acceleration, handling stability, and low power consumption.
