Structured with a Guest-first approach, the newly developed Virtual Assistants are intended to be the primary way you interact with the Lexus Interface multimedia system and are designed to enable voice-first applications.

This video will provide a closer look at the Virtual Assistants available on Lexus Interface equipped vehicles, and how you can control select vehicle functions and gain access to key information using your voice.

Your Lexus Interface equipped vehicle can potentially feature two Virtual Assistants:

The first is Lexus Assistant, this standard virtual assistant allows you to control select on-board vehicle functions such as the climate control system, radio, phone and more. A subscription is not required to use the Lexus Assistant.

The second is Intelligent Assistant, which is available with an active Drive Connect trial or subscription.
Intelligent Assistant provides a natural and easy-to-use virtual companion that enhances the standard voice command system.

It features cloud-based technology to improve the functionality of the cloud navigation system, find points of interest searches using Google POI data, check for weather information and more.

As voice-first initiation and response features, the best way to activate Lexus Assistant and Intelligent Assistant is by using your voice.

Like popular smart-speaker technology, the system reacts to a wake-up phrase such as “Hey Lexus” or “Hello Lexus”.

You can also tap the microphone icon on the multimedia touchscreen display or press the voice recognition button located on the steering wheel to activate.

With an active Drive Connect trial or subscription, in addition to being upgraded to Intelligent Assistant, you will also gain access to Cloud Navigation which can also respond to voice commands.

For example, using your voice, you can access the map at any point during your drive by saying “Hey Lexus, show the map”.

If you would like to adjust the scale of the map, just say something like “Hello Lexus - Zoom in on the map”.

You can also search for destinations and receive real-time turn-by-turn directions to your desired location.

Just say where you would like to go, and Intelligent Assistant will search and share the results.
You can also say “Call it” to call the phone number associated with that location, - or say “Cancel Route” to cancel the active route guidance.

And if your search results in multiple listings, you can say “call the second one” or “Take me to the third one”.

You can also get more specific in your search request.

Drive Connect also comes with the Destination Assist service which connects you with a live response center agent, who will help you look for destinations in your area. Just say “Hi Lexus, call Destination Assist”.

The Virtual Assistants can also be used for selecting music.
To turn on the radio, say “Hey Lexus, turn on the radio”.

To pick a radio station, you can say “Hey Lexus, show FM stations list”, or request a specific station like “Tune to 91.7 FM”.

You can also ask to play a specific genre of music, like “Hey Lexus, play rock music”
The Virtual Assistants can help you keep up with your contacts while you’re on the go. You can say “Hey Lexus, call Alice” – or just dictate a specific phone number.

You can even send a text message by saying “Hey Lexus, send a message to Alice mobile”. With the standard Lexus Assistant, you will be able to choose from a list of pre-selected messages while Intelligent Assistant will allow you to dictate your own personalized message to your contact.
Finally, you can ask the Virtual Assistants to adjust climate control settings including, airflow mode, fan speed and temperature.
